Kids are our most precious treasures, What hurts them hurts us.

Become a licensed Family First Aid trainer

See the About Us section to understand what we do and why we do it.

We are actively seeking to license Family First Aid trainers throughout New Zealand.

What does the role entail?

We deliver 2 hour First Aid Training courses, many of them to parents, grandparents and caregivers. We cover CPR and Choking, as well as burns, bleeding, and many other subjects.
We use certified CPR mannequins, and our trainers must be CPR certified here in New Zealand (we can guide you as to how to obtain this qualification if necessary).
We deliver the course at various places, including Plunket Family Centres and Midwife centres for example, as well as at private homes.
Many of the Family-oriented courses are delivered in the evening, from 7:30 to 9:30 typically, with some on Saturdays during the day.
But we also deliver some other targeted courses, which have a slightly different content and some of which are delivered during weekdays.

And what rewards does it bring?

The first thing is that it is very rewarding at a personal level.
The clients are happy to be there, and they are always appreciative of what you bring to them.
There are few of the stresses typical of nursing in a hospital or general practice.
And even if you are unsure of your ability at public speaking, the intimate size of the classes tends to ameliorate this challenge.
In monetary terms, the role is likely to be more suited to someone looking for part-time work to supplement income rather than as a full-time income in itself.
(Though there is potential to earn a full-time equivalent income if that’s what someone really wishes.)

What do you need?

  • For a start you need your own transport of course, because you will be traveling around with equipment (which we supply), and possibly at times and places, that make it impractical to use public transport.
  • Secondly you need the kind of personality that allows you to confidently deliver training to groups of strangers. And to develop a warm and empathetic relationship with a variety of people.
  • Thirdly you need freedom and flexibility to allow you to deliver courses during daytime, in evenings and on Saturdays.
  • It would help if you were passionate about kids and about people in general, the way we are.
  • It would further be a great help if you had a nursing background because that would better equip you to answer questions that go beyond the course content.

Where to from here?

Fill out the online form and we’ll send you a more detailed document.
We look forward to hearing from you.
